Thanksgiving 2010 Recap

Well now that the holiday is over I am finally getting reconnected with my couch and my computer. My how I have missed both of them! I am happy to report that Thanksgiving 2010 was a HUGE success and I will be posting all of the recipes very very soon.

I spent a lot of time in the kitchen...

... and a lot of time setting the table.

Here's what the final table looked like.

And a close up on a place setting with homemade caramel corn (recipe coming soon).

The menu was pretty classic. For appetizers I served a cheese and crackers platter, spinach dip with chips, and a hot onion dip (recipe coming soon). My sister brought an awesome veggie turkey which I didn't get a picture of- boo!

Dinner started with pumpkin soup. The main event was roasted turkey*, green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes*, breaded cauliflower, stuffing, corn casserole, homemade cranberry sauce, light wheat rolls*, herb rolls*, herb compound butter*, and honey butter.

*= Recipe coming soon!

Dessert was simple, apple pie, pumpkin pie, my favorite cookies, and applesauce cake with cream cheese frosting.

The use of the sterno trays was one of my best ideas. The food stayed hot and I didn't have to worry about it. Now, my family is laid back and not overly formal, so if you like a formal feel you might not like the sterno look, but for us it was perfect. The only things that didn't go in sterno trays were the green beans and rolls. It really cut down on the passing.

Best part of the night? A vicious dance battle to Just Dance 2 on the Wii.

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday! I can't wait to share these recipes with you- I assure you there are some real winners coming your way soon!
